Thread: Vegas 7.0 Initializing UI

    Default Vegas 7.0 Initializing UI

So, after a new PC format I go to re-install Vegas 7.0
All seems well and good, installs correctly etc, so when I go to boot it up, I get this.

And it hangs like that for an indefinate amount of time. It just won't boot up anymore, any suggestions?

Did you reinstall the operating system from scratch or did you do an upgrade (i.e. W2K-->WinXP)?

Have you tried reinstalling Vegas on top of the exisiting failed installation? I've never done it w/Vegas, but most software's install proggy will detect that you've got the software installed already and offer to REPAIR the existing installation.

If that doesn't work, remove Vegas and reinstall.

Operating system was installed from scratch.
Just tried the repair/remove function, ended up removing it and re-installing it.
Same problem I'm afraid, hangs at Initializing UI.

Have you run a Checkdisk on your hard drive? Possibly, the sector where Vegas is being installed are bad.

Is Vegas the "only problem" you are having on your new rebuild?

Yeh, vegas is the only problem I've had so far.

Possibly your HD has bad sectors. Run Checkdisk and select the "fix bad sectors" option.

Did so, taken the past 20 or so minutes, and no bad sectors.
Just tried Vegas again afterwards, same problem sadly.

OK, we're moving along. We've eliminated the HD as a culprit. Were you installing from the CD or from a network share or external HD?

Oh, also, did you reinstall your videocard drivers, motherboard drivers and DirectX? I'm sure Vegas needs to know what hardware it's working with and how to interface w/it.

CD - Checked and has no scratches, it's fairly new.

    Hmm. Vegas isn't liking something.

Are you running WinXP? SP2 installed?

Try this. On the install, it asks you "Where to install to?" The default is C:\Program Files\somethingsomething.

Create another folder in Program Files. Call it whatever. Install to there.

Be sure to UNinstall Vegas AND reboot first.
