Default Adding WMA file to audio track

Why is it when I add a WMA file it skips over audio tracks 1, 2, and 3(which are empty) and goes in audio track 4.

It can't go in audio track 1, 2 or 3.

    I'm using Premiere Pro 1.5.

I have read soemthign about this at sometime in the past. From memory it's somethign to do wioth the number of sound channels in the file. Maybe your wma is only mono? or the bitrate si differnt to that expected.

Certainly, audio files meeting certain crioteria cannot go in those top three layers, that's all.

The good news though, is that it might look odd on your timeline but makes absolutely no difference whatsoever to yoru final movie

    Alan,

Thanks for your reply. The bitrate is 32kbps and the mic on the recording device is monaural. When I add another similar file to a new audio track it skips the next 3 tracks and goes in track 8. Yeah, it just looks odd but as long as the end product is okay that's the bottom line.

You'll find that for video layers the ordering of them is very important. For audio it doesn't matter.
