Thread: Video quality on my site

Default Video quality on my site

I currently run a site where I show videos that I've made. To edit my videos I use Windows Movie Maker. My question is why do my videos look all pixelated and choppy on my site? When I edit and save them, I check them before I upload them on my site and the quality of the videos look good on my pc but look crappy on my site. Why is it doing this?

Are you uploading to you tube / similar or is it as you imply your own webspace?

If this is your own space then the difference is odd. What bit rate / codec are you using for the uploaded vids?

I upload the videos onto my own webspace. My videos are in WMV format.

I can't understand them being pixelated if the ones on your hard drive aren't. The ones on your site should be identical to the ones that you upload....

What save settings are you using in Moviemaker? 512k ?

I save the video settings to High Quality Video (small). Bit Rate: Variable , Display size: 320x240, Aspect Ratio: 4:3, Frames Per Second: 30

(I'm a newbie when it comes to video editing)

Maybe try a different setting. I tend to find that 'Video for broadband (512 Kbps)' gives acceptable results.

When you said choppiness, I was just thinking that you might be encoding it at too high a bit rate to allow a smooth, progressive download for the bandwidth you have available.....
