Default Widescreen (1.422) Lost When Exporting To Microsoft DV AVI

    Hi everyone!

Having some real problems when trying to export a "parkour" movie that I shot yesterday. I just want it to end up in widescreen as i source video was, and as the preview video shows in the premier interface. These are my current settings:

As you can see in the top left the sources are all in the right ratio, its when i export it i get introuble. The result is a square video, which is obviously distorted!

Any help would be greatly appriciated as i want to show the world my video!

    Peace
    Ross

I'm certainly no expert on this, but, I faced this problem before and read somewhere that if I exported it to dvd and played it on a standard dvd player it would be fine, this turned out true. I also read at the same time that if I want ed to see it properly on my computer and played it on a software player, that would play normal dvd's, it would show properly as 16:9, this turned out to be true aswell.

It may just be a codec issue in your player and everything is really fine.

For me this was great as I wanted the video for dvd use anyway. It sounds like you want yours for the internet. If so, and if the above is the case, you might want to stick the output file in a 4:3 project and resize it to fit (widthwise) and output it with black bars on top and bottom. This way you will have no issue if the website you use wont display 16:9. You may even want to get fancy and scale it to fit height wise, then keyframe the horizontal motion control for a pan and scan.

Someone may have better answers for 16:9 on websites though. That's just what I do because I don't really know much about web players and it keeps me on the safe side.

    David.
