Default HELP!!! Panasonic NV DS11 & Firewire

    Hi there
I'd really appreciate any help anyone could offer. I have a Panasonic NV DS11 and would like to download a film I've recorded onto my pc. I believe I need firewire to do this but am unsure of the following:
    1. What make of forewire do I need?
    2. Where do I plug it in... I can't see any sign of a place to plug it in on the camcorder.
    3. What kind of software would be the bext value?
    Thanks

you will need a 4 to 6 pin firewire cable (any brand)

I believe there is a rubbery flap on the right hand side of the camera (towards the front), under which is the 'dv' socket (4 pin - looks a bit like a fat n)

best value software... imovie on a mac (free), but if you one on the windows millions, then you'll hafta find out from one of them. Maybe pinacle ... I dunno

    Default The Answer

i have owned one of these camcorders from new
there is no firewire connection on this machine
there is however an s-video connection to connect to a video capture card which must be installed in your pc then transferring video is quite simple
i had a hauppagge usb card that works ok but its quite old and only captures in black and white
i also used to have a pinacle video card with s video socket and this worked fine too.
To recap: get a cheap video capture card with s-video socket and accompanying software. Also get s-video cable to connect between the pc and camcorder. The socket can be found on the back of the camcorder where the battery fits.
    Hope this helps

I've just been on Panasonics website and I found the following link...

Panasonic UK Download Centre for Manuals, Software and Drivers

When you are on this page type in details about your camcorder into the four boxes over on the right and when the pdf files come up, I just looked at the one with the first 15 pages; it showed me that on page 5 of your instruction manual there is mention of a DV Terminal (iLink). It clearly states there is a DV terminal on this camcorder (UK model). It is DV out only.

The DV iLink is on the front of the camera, just below the mic. It is DV out only.
You can enable DV-in using a piece of software called 'Pana test 2.0', and the
Panasonic DVC still capture cable that came with the camera.

    Hi medp

Does the software 'Pana test 2.0' only work on that model of camcorder, or will it work on all Panasonics to enable DV-In as some of the recent models only have DV-Out?

I'm unsure what camcorders are supported, but you may find what you want HERE
