I was all set to buy a HDD camera since I thought less moving parts, less openning and closing meant less potential problems. I had also assumed that HDD would give a smoother - better quality pic than miniDV tape. Finally with new models offering 5 MegaPixel I was sure these were the best for picture and probably editing. Not being able to put HiDef onto a standard DVD steered me away from those expensive options.
Then .. whammo ... I read some of your FAQ ... miniDV give better quality than new HD cams !
It seems to be due to the data rate, or lower compression, but surely at some stage with the HD cams getting higher resol, over 5 MegaPixel won't there be a tipping point ?
i.e. HD cams with over 7MegPixel will have better quality than miniDV ?
(number purely pulled from the air for hyperthetical question only)
So for quality and editing I'm best to buy a mniDV ?
Does this still hold true ?
