Thread: Imported photo shimmies when rendered

  1. Default Imported photo shimmies when rendered

I have just included a high quality photo in my video.
But when I render it and play it the photo "shimmies" because I am panning it.

Is there a right resolution I am supposed to import in Vegas 6?
    150 dpi, 300 dpi? What dimensions ?

I thought the higher the dpi and bigger dimensions, the better quality output I would get?

    Any ideas?

I presume you are rendering to DV resoloution.

The effect you are seeing is, I suspect, a result of the low output res combined with a very slow pan, it's a common dv artifact and has even got it's own name 'crawl' or 'creep' or somethnig like that. Usually it is seen on high contrast vertical / horizontal edges and is a real problem on text.

When rendering text it can be avoided by using serif typefaces and a bit of blurr and low contrast - not that you want to do that to the still.

A slightly faster pan may reduce the effect or you might try adding a bit of motion blur.

Effects like this are often very apparent on a monitor but when viewed on a TV they dissapear due to the TVs picture enhancement circuits.

Video is always at 72dpi - change ur images to that and it should be lovely!

I always use the Gaussian blur set at a very low level.
