Default ??? about Video Capture Devices?

Ok - I'm looking to put my old VHS tapes on DVD (i have a lot of old rare original VHS horror) , i was planning to get either of these:

    Dazzle DVD Recorder

    OR

a hauppauge device maybe not this particular one but something similar:

    Hauppauge Win TV USB

I have a Laptop 1..66 centrino 512meg running XP - I presume this will do the job of converting my DVDs. Guy in the shop said it would.

ALSO I was wondering since this takes in the Video/Audio Source via a phono plu could I use this to play an XBOX via my laptop screen???

    thanks in advance..

You could use it to play the XBOX but it would generate a major Lag-time (Downconverting to MPEG2 using hardware then being uncompressed for display on your laptop simoultaeously could create a lag as big as 1 second or more in some cases).

no games are playable with a lag that big, not even strategies : P
It's not about what camera you use or how much it cost.

    It's about what you shoot,
    how you shot it,
and how you edit it :P
