    Default Adobe Encore

    Guys,
    I'm trying to use Adobe Encore to create a menu for my 20gig (uncompressed) .avi .... could you please advise if Encore will compress the movie down to around a couple if gig ... enouhg to put onto a DVD ????

    Also are there any quality issues that i need to be aware of ... ????

    Encore should have no problem with this however!!!!

    You should consider using your editing software to encode it into mpeg2. I have found that using authoring software to encode the final video leaves you with less options.

    Also you should encode a small 10 second sequence from the middle of your program to test the quality.

    Good advice there!

    I would add that Encore has a 'disk' tab in the project panel that will show you the size of the DVD it will create. I typically export MPEG2 from my editor and so my Encore projects start with MPEG2 rather than AVI so I hope the sizing still works.

    20Gb of AVI is typically about 1hr 40 mins of video so I imagine it will fit with no troubles though.
