    Question Newbie Confusion: Frame Rates

I just started working on my first video today, using episodes (AVI files) of an animated series off of a burned CD. The first series of scenes I used were all from the same episode, and I had no problems; but as soon as I tried to add scenes from different episodes, the program wouldn't let me do it, claiming that they were at 23.97 fps, when the others were at 29.97.

I don't know how ridiculous this question sounds, this all being new territory to me, but is there anything I can do to increase the frame rates of these files? My system is Windows XP, if that helps.
