Thread: how to copy part of a clip?

Default how to copy part of a clip?

I try to copy a part of a clip A, which has been cut into 2 pieces: A1 and A2. They are both "audio clips". A1 is laughing, A2 is talking. I try to copy A1 several times, then to put several A1's the one behind the other, so that there is a long laughing. I thought I can activate A1 (in audio2), then go to "copy", then to "paste". Before copying I set the time-indicator exactly at the end of A1, but after pasting I cannot find a copy of A1 anywhere. What do I do wrong?

Once you've added the audio clip to your project (imported them) simply drag and drop one of the clips to an empty part of the timeline as often as you want to runt he sound multi times.

    Hi Millsy,

Thanks for your reaction. What you say is clear. But when I have cut an imported clip in 2 pieces in the timeline (the original is in the bin but the 2 seperate pieces are on the timeline) is is then possible to copy one one the two pieces?

oh ok, i get you. Not tried this for audio only but look up 'virtual clips' in the Premiere help and/or documentation.

This is how, in Premiere you re-use some 'already rendered' footage multiple times in your project. Maybe it works for a timeline with just audio attached as well. Not tried it.
