Thread: Noob Editing question

    Default Noob Editing question

I just bought Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0.

I have about 20 minutes of video, that has about 2 minutes of an image that I want to blurr or remove from the video. Or even just black out the image. What do you recommend I use and is it even possible? It does move a bit but not much.

If I need to I can buy another software package.

(Side question, is it possible to run the capture DV portion of Premiere with a USB 2.0 cable? The guy who sold me the camera said yes, but it doesn't seem to work.)

To remove it just use the razor tool (the little icon shaped like a razor blade) and make a cut either side of the piece. Right-click this portion and delete.

To blur the piece, use the razor to cut as above, but instead of deleting it, drop one of the blur filters on it (motion blur, radial blur, in the effects folder). Adjust the amount of blur in the effects control pane.

To black it out, I would add black video (File > New > Black Video) and stretch it over your selected piece on video track 2.

Itís generally agreed that Firewire is the standard for video capture because of its high sustained data rate. Using USB always gives problems.

Thanks. Where is the razor tool on the menu?

Well if I don't have firewire how do I get Preimere to capture from USB?

You can also use the keyboard shortcut for the Razor tool and it is hold down CTRL and K at the same time, it will speed things up. The thing I found useful about Adobe products is to learn as many of the keyboard shortcuts as you possibly can.
