Hello - I own a Panasonic NV-M5 video camera (the old full-size tape model), and wondered if anybody knew what cable is needed to link the camera upto a computer capture card.

    Many thanks in aticipation.

You need an S-Video cable for video capture and an RCA cable to transfer the audio signal.

What kind of capture card have you got? Does it have an S-Video or Composite video socket on it to allow you to connect a cable from the Panasonic to it? If it does then follow what Mihai said, what spec is your computer just out of curiosity?

The number of my tv/video capture card is: MM205PCTV. It features two female sockets: phono video in, and an RF in. The Video out on the camera adaptor is a BNC female, with a phono female audio out. (no s-video on either devices). I'm struggling to download the right driver also.
My OS is XP upgrade/5gig/192 ram

You don't have the higher quality S-Video connector so you will need a BNC (really old connector at this stage) to phono adaptor for the video out of the camera to a phono on the other end of the cable to plug into your TV capture card. Will your TV capture card give you full screen resolution or is it set at something like 640 x 480 therefore giving you a window with a black border all the way around it? 5 Gig hard drive and 192 MB Ram? What kind of processor are you running and what is it's clock speed. Windows XP needs 128MB Ram to run successfully leaving you with only 64MB Ram to handle video?
