    Default Vegas Video 6 Question

    Hello.

I'm trying to create the effect of me being in two places at once. I've taken two video clips, shot in the exact same place. In each video, I say some dialogue and make the appropriate pauses for me to continue on the other video.

I tried putting it in Vegas 6 and playing with it so that both videos come out clearly, but I end up getting one video clip coming in strong and the other with a ghost-like effect. That is what I got while trying to play with the opacity. Is there any way to make both video clips come out strong to actually make the effect that I'm in two places at the same time?

I'm not sure what the two video clips are that you've taken but the easiest way to do this is to lock off your camera on a wide shot and do one recording with yourself on the left of frame doing your dialogue and a second recording with yourself right of frame doing other dialogue then soft edge wipe the two clips together. Helps with the timing if you get another 'actor' to read the lines with you.

Thanks for the help. I'm unfamilar with the soft edge but I'll do some 'research' and check it out. I was thinking that there should be some type of tool that would mesh the two videos together, but I couldn't locate it. Thanks again.

If you add a cookie cutter effect to the top track, you can cut the rest of the frame away and it will reveal the other half on the lower tack. Another way (and the one to use if the shape is more complicated or you perhaps overlap each other at any time) is to employ a mask on the upper track. You can feather the edges of both CC and masks.

That's very interesting advice as well. I'll try to incorporate that into the video and see how that works. Thanks.
