Default How to add overlaying images to video and make them gradually slide across TheScreen

OK, not exactly sure how to explain this. I know how to simply place an image or another video on top of a video (like having a small image in the corner for the duration of a video), but I was wondering how you go about making an image slide from one position to another on a video.

    Example

You film someone pretending to shoot a laser gun, how would you go about adding a laser bullet thing to the video, so that it appears just as the person pretends to shoot and flies out of their gun into the wall?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm very new to video editing :(.

P.S. If someone could post a link to a tutorial showing how to do this or similar things to it I would be very grateful.

Probably not the best technique for animating a laser bolt but glad you sorted it. And welcome to the forums.
