    Default Specs for personal Video Editing

    Hello guys, Im planning to buy a new PC for personal video editing, Please check my PC Specs, any comment will be greatly appreciated.


    CPU - (Pentium 4) 2.8 Dual Core
    RAM - 1 GB DDR2 (kingston)
    HDD - 250 GB SEAGATE 7200 RPM Serial-ata
    VIDEO CARD - ATI 9250 128 MB
    DVD WRITER - LG 16X DUAL LAYER
    MOTHERBOARD - Asus P5VDC-X

    Video Editing Hardware:
    PYRO A / V LINK

    I am guessing you will be editing DV and not HDV.

    If you can afford it.

    A second HDD for windows(80gb is plenty) and use the 250gb for capture and editing project files and if you can run to a 3ghz dual core that would be good too.

    The second HDD is important, the proccessor no so.

    I would second the above on drives and if you can afford it i reccomend a 10000rpm wd raptor, it made my system much more responsive - not essential but nice.

    Get the biggest drive for storage you can afford, but dont go over 320 maybe as above that they get more expensive per gb. I put a 400 and a 320 in my pc for that reason (they had run out of 320s).

    Core duo are much quicker than p4 dual core but cost a bit more - I am sure the processor you mention will be fine tho.
