    Default Flashing in footage

    Hello,

I recently shot a doc in europe and accidently had an interviewee under a desk lamp that I did not realize was a flourescent light. I have sporadic flashing in his face and background, anyone encounter this and solve it somehow in post?

Its about 30 minutes of footage so I could take it to a colorist but if I could somehow avoid the expense I would be mighty pleased.

    Thx!

Just a suggestion, not something I have encounterd or attempted to solve, but adding some motion blurr may reduce the problem.

im thinking a flash would only be 1-2 frames so i would copy the frames either side of the flace and put them where the flash is with a fade trans over them.

this sounds like an interesting idea, how do I do a fade trans "over them?"

in prem you would put the sections of footage next to each other on the same video line and just add the transition across them.

Have you carefully looked at each frame in the flashing area. Is it a complete frame of light or just an overexposed or underexposed frame due to the mismatch of the frequency of the floresent light and camera frame rate. It might take some work but you could export the affected frames (might be only 4 or 5) fix the levels in photoshop and add them back in. There might also be a program that would look at each frame and set levels an a frame by frame approach not the whole clip. How many flashes in a minute. Maybe you could use some type of cutaway.

    Hello,

I looked somewhat carefully and noticed 3 different flash aspects, (might be more). I was going to lean on cutaways and vo's but I would like to utilize a few minutes of the guy's 30+ minutes, it is a fascinating interview.
