    Exclamation Another Photo Shop Question

Hi again, back with another photo shop question
I'm getting much better using the software but still get stumped every now again

    My question is
When starting a fresh canvas (as i need to do for creating Panoramic Montage's)
How do I know / or what is the average rule/ for knowing what 'Resolution' I set the canvas size up at?

Example- the pieces I am creating are usually started on a canvas of 914 x 305mm,
then I obviously bring in a certain amount of photo's to make up the panoramic picture,
HOWEVER how do I know what to set up the Resolution at?

Normally for this size pic, I set it at 200 but I really have know idea if this is correct and know idea what to set my other pictures up at!

I'd appreciate any help or views on what people think the best way to go with this is

    cheers

it depends on what you intend to do with the image... if they are for web the 72dpi is fine. if you are intending to print them i would go for 300dpi

thses are the only resolutions i ever really use.

Thankyou Komatoast, you are exactly right!
I know this because i went to the printers today to get some of my montage shots printed,
and I asked them and they said exactly the same thing 300dpi

When i put in the canvas size, it also askes me for the resolution, is that the dpi?
is it same thing? what does dpi, stand for?

Also another quick question, Today I tried to set my computer screen up with that Gamma Option thinga magig, and I stuffed it up, how do I get my monitor back the way it was?

    Cheers

yeah resolution is the dpi setting.... dpi means simply dots per inch

as for the gamma setting i think there is a reset option within the little settup prog
