Do you really have a HD DVD player (either the Blu-ray or HD-DVD format)?

If you do (and you actually have films which are on HD - of which there aren't that many presently) and you want to edit natively in HDV then you will need a product like Adobe Premiere Pro 2, Avid Liquid, Final Cut Pro. In addition you will need a DVD ripping tool to get the film from the disk. You will also need to record back to a Dual Layer DVD ROM or if you actually do have HD then back to a Blu-ray or HD-DVD burner (do those even exist yet?)

I actually think you are probably referring to not losing any of the films resolution as opposed to real High-definition video. In which case the options open to you are volumous.

You really need to give us some indication of your editing experience to date, what platform the software will need to run on and how much you are looking to spend (always a consideration). Also, what are you system specifications? It's always useful to know things like that.

That's my opinion. If you don't like it I have others

System: Apple Macbook Pro 17, and an external Freecom 500GB eSATA drive.
Software: Final Cut Studio 2 (FCP 6, Motion 3, Soundtrack Pro 2, Color, DVD Studio Pro 4, Compressor 3), Sonicfire Pro 4.5
Favourite Resources: Findsounds.com, Free DVD menus, Ken Stone's FCP Page, Wikivid

THANKS-I GUESS I BETTER USE THE RIGHT TERMINOLOGY CORRECTLY. WHAT I WANT TO DO IS TAKE A DVD LIKE-- ENEMY OF THE STATE-- AND DELETE 3-5MINS OF VIDEO OF THE SEX AND DELETE PARTS OF THE AUDIO WITH BAD WORDS AND THEN PUT THE MOVIE BACK ON A DVD AND PLAY IT ON MY DVDPLAYER IN PROGRESSIVE SCAN MODE--(525P SYSTEM) SO I CAN PLAY IT ON MY BIG SCREEN TV. I HAVE SOFTWARE TO RIP THE DVD SOURCE INTO VIDEO FILE AND AUDIO FILE. AND SOFTWARE TO FORMAT IT BACK TO A DVDR+. BUT I NEED A SOFTWARE PRGRAM THAT WILL ALLOW ME TO EDIT BOTH VIDEO AND AUDIO AND KEEP THEM IN SYCN. I HAVE A AMD 3600 WITH 1.5G RAM AND HARDDRIVE 200G. A VIDEO 256CARD AND AND DVD DRIVE TO PLAY AND RECORD. WANT A SOFTWARE PROGRAM UNDER
    150$$ANYTHING LIKE THAT OUT THERE.

Why worrie? Let the kiddos watch the lot, I mean it's only sex innit.

As a kid I watched all sorts of grown up stuff and my parents were always happy to explain / reassure ect.

Never did me no harm, err, I think.

Seriously tho there is very little reliable research to support a link between breeding horrid kids and watching too much porn / violence / Tweenies (ooeee nasty).

I remember watching chitty chitty bang bang as a kid, a U film, and I actually wet myself for real when the child catcher was on, my point being that what you think might upset the luvvikins might be way wide of the mark, so why bother?

    Why bother part 2

If you did do it it would take hours and hours in computer time and editing, heck, it would take me hours, someone inexpirienced, much more. Why not just let the widdlers only watch films that have passed the parental censorship process? Much easier.

Try "cinamtize" it the only program I know of. In the us they have a dvd player that has the "gardian" feature thats censors adult content for you.
