Thread: I'm filming a gig

Hi there

I'm filming two gigs this weekend - never filmed or recorded in similar conditions.

One of them will have plenty of flashing lights (I'm guessing), so I'm not too sure what shutter speed I need to use.

Any tips or help is much appreciated!!!

Shutter speed ? Flashing lights?? Not an issue. The only time it can be an issue is with some sorts of cfl lights and tubes, and pc monitors.

Probs only occur when the shutter speed is a multiple or close to a multiple of the flicker frequency of those devices.

i still ended up using a slow shutter speed as it was so dark - it was a bit of a guessing game

The trick with gis - and good practice anyway - is to AVOID auto anything in gig / nightclub filming.

yeah, practice seems the way! and seeing bands at the venue before helped on the 'guessing' game

only auto setting i had on was white balance
