Default remove image from still video shot

ive done extensive research on how to remove a "no tape" flashing image that is shown through a whole video i recorded "for a church, they hired me for it" i set up a digital video camera to record through a VCR instead of recording with the cam's tape. and a "no tape" flashes through the whole recording. ive downloaded tons of programs but none give the option to take out images from a video clip. its a wonder i dont have a virus yet... i have converted the VHS tape to Mpg4 for editing purpeses. i just need a decent program that will let me take out images! or simply place another image on top of the "no tape". any body know of such a program? doesnt matter if it costs anything i just need to know what it is.

How bad is this message? If, like some cameras I've seen the message is huge and right across the image, you're pretty much screwed. If it's small and perhaps down in a bottom corner, you could either blur it or overlay a box of somekind to cover it.

Can you post a screen shot so we can see?

the file is at my workplace, the image is small and centered. I can use photoshop to create an image that would cover the no tape and make it seem like it was never there, but from there i just need to know what program would allow me to place it in the video file. and there is never any motion where that no tape messege is so i dont have to worry about weird effects if some one passed through it. I appreciate your speedy reply

Most decent editors will do the job. I use Sony Vegas and a free 30 day trial is available from the Sony site.

Just remember - you're covering it - not removing it.

Was the camera itself stationary during the filming?

I ask because if it was you could take a frame in between the flashes, crop it down to cover the offending text, then overlay that onto the video. All of that can be done from within the video editor rather than running the risk of trying to match things up by using a seperate still image editor. Much the same as you suggest, but possibly less prone to a mis-match.

yes, covering. and the camera was stationary the whole time, no movements. i plan to take that route, use the image in between flashes to cover the the text.
