Just new on, probably wouldn't know the difference between a great and a good video, but this vid is an excellent 1st video for me to view. Some great shots and the editing was superb. Well done.

Can I suggest that the video include more 'gnarly' tricks, stunts and spills - that to me would make it hundred times more interesting regardless of any special effects added.

Personally, I thought the stabilisation worked a treat and it's well shot - just needs a few more points of interest in terms of content.
Just my view - as a surfer and regular 'extreme' sport video viewer!! Can I ask what camera you use and other equipment used for this video?

As an aside - you may want to check out BeExtreme TV :: which is a UK version of YouTube for the British extreme sport community - think it's for sale too !!

Cheers for the vid!!

I'm intrigued by your mysterious introduction.
But not enough to watch the video . . . yet

Normally I would, but in 8 mile an hour winds simply not possible. This video was basically a potted show of the activities from one weekend, the winds didn't allow the good guys to get going, in fact we didn't even bother to launch kites, just the cruisers went out, and so that is all that could be reported. If you take a look at 'Atomosphere 08' on my YouTube channel you'll see such things, although sadly the kitesurfers of the day were beyond the reach of the cameras I was using then.

As for the gear, I'm a fiddler, so a few bits to get me the shots.

Cameras - Sony HC5's with home made screen hood and magnifier.

Mounts:
Hand held - I simply use a certain tripod, hand held, with a slightly modified bit on top, there is no stabilisation applied in post. This is the only steady mount that I can use whilst running.

Tripod - Large Manfrotto, I forget the model and it's too late to drag it out, but let's call it a semi pro quality one, fluid head. Home made balance beam for telephoto shots, using twin cameras (saves lens changing, and adds beneficial inertia).

Monopod - Manfrotto, used with WA lenses only.

Camera Crane - 5 Metre home made (you can just see it in the reflection on the opening shot).

Lenses - Olympus WCON08B, TCON14B, TCON300B

Filters - U/V on the TCON08B only.

Yep - watched it and with sound too. Love the opening shot - Reflections are always close to my heart and the mix of shots, especially the steadicam alongside the riders. The only shot missing - a ground level shot with the wheels wizzing by at close range. Dissolves didn't work too well with the track and I thought the closing shot should have been the one that came about 20 seconds before the end - The guy disappearing into the blazing sun. A few more 'reflections of flyers' through the sunglasses would have been a great bonus to continuity too.
Just my take on it and I hope it's constructive
