Default Sound mixer advice

I'm looking for a sound mixer, something simple which doesn't cost the earth.

What want to do is take at least four XLR inputs, chose which ones I want "live", mix them and output a line signal into my laptop.

Who's got experience in this field and can point me in the right direction?

Edit: C'mon Mark, Luke and Andy, I know you're out there. Gimme a bit of advice here.

Exactly.

I've found a second-hand Shure mixer on ebay but I was actually considering a less portable table-top mixer, now I'm not so sure (shure) though

Actually I think I'll probably be going for a Shure M367, for sure

http://www.shure.com/mixers/models/m367.asp

Although I was thinking more along the lines of a proper (ie non-field) mixer, this is probably more practical for what I need. In an ideal world I'd get an SQN 5s but they're way, way (3k+) out of my budget at the moment.

Where are the soundies when you need them?

Try this for size

Cheaper prices available if you scout around a bit.

Looks good, do you know of anyone in the UK or EU who sells Rolls (not ham, bacon or cheese but 422) I tried Google and Yahoo but can't seem to find anyone.

Don't do good 'phone, so I've sent 'em an e-mail.

I've been stung before on stuff from the states, got hit with a Customs fee and lumbered with a 110volt charger, so now I only buy my gear from a UK or EU distributor. :(

Unless you happen to be going to New York and can pick me one up from B&H and smuggle it back

Cheers Andy

PS thanks Mark, it's now a definite decision twixt Shure and Rolls
