Default I need some advise Please!!

1st post:

I have a Canon zr 300/zr200 its a $350-400 camcorder. I am about to start filming a short movie and was wondering if there is any way to hook up a mic so the sound quality is better. (the mic on the cam is low quality and has a short range limiting me to head shots for dialogue.) I have a nice mic i use for recording my voice(singing mic) but it has a bulky plug in.

Is there anything i could do? I going to be using this movie as a entry towards a film school scholarship.

Please Help

Well does your camcorder have a MIC IN connection?
If not, you're gonna have to record high quality sound using an external device, such as a MiniDisc.

What kind of movie were you planning on making? If you are going to be using an external mic then it will need to be shielded against handling noises so you'll need to use some kind of stand or boom or suspend is some way so you get clean audio. The bulky plug in is probably a 6.4mm (I think) so it's easy getting a convertor plug to reduce it to 3.5mm, is it a stereo mic (2 black rings on the plug) or a mono mic (1 black ring on the plug)?
