Default canon xh a1, using mini microphone

Where do I plug the mini jack in when using a mini jack lavaliere. I tried the plugging it into the jack under the headphone jack but it didn't work. What I am doing wrong? the instruction manual has nothing on using mini jack microphones only XLR mics.

EDIT: Nevermind, proved wrong.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You've got a lapel that needs to be plugged into a wireless transmitter
The XH A1 doesn't have a 3.5mm mic input as far as I can see. (What you're trying to use is the AV out socket)
You don't need a wireless transmitter, you need a 3.5mm (female) to XLR (Male) converter.
Smifis - please - don't give out advice if you don't know what you're talking about. The OP hasn't given any detail at all about the mic he has, and irrespective of that, Guru is correct - no transmitter is required no matter (almost) whatever type of mic it is.
Rather than mislead a questioner with duff advice, better to keep quiet and let someone who does know answer the problem.
Thanks.
I'm sorry. always up for learning.
I've always used a wireless transmitter with a lapel with a mini jack on and the receiver with an xlr output.
Like i say every time I'm wrong, you have my permission to shout at me (PM so i can change my post).
