See? This is the beauty of shared experience and ideas in an open forum.

I agree that trying to filter out the unwanted tones was a difficult but possible alternative and I thought of ProTools. I had no idea there was a vendor out there that could do it quicker and easier in an automated venue. Great suggestion! More heads are ALWAYS better than one.

I have personally watched a really talented professional engineer use ProTools on a MAC to isolate a single lead vocal track from 47 others and then completely remove crowd and other track ambient noise and bleed over from a live performance and then add background singers and strings from his church choir to create an amazing end result and he did it in a very few hours - obviously not a "dubber" and if I played the two final versions of that song you would never suspect the the second started with the first. Real day-to-day pros using pro level tools can do magic as we all know. Wish I was one of those real Pros - alas I resemble more the "dubber" - did you mean duffer??

I don't think a forum is a contest or conflict - just individuals sharing their perspective and experience - I shot and edited over 300 3-camera weddings back in the old A&B Roll days so I have that experience to speak from. I'm always glad to have someone post from a higher level of expertise or experience than my offereing - I like to learn too.

I bet I could take a shot at using a less capable application like Cakewalk and bet that I could remove or greatly reduce the unwanted sound and like Nikosony I also suggested re-recording that portion of the vows and then doing a simple overdub blend over some of the original sound - done things like that a lot of times.

Anyway, I've stepped up to originator in a PM to send the audio to me and I would take a shot at trying to help. Maybe ya'll could do the same at a much higher level of expertise - just step up.

So far as comic voices maybe I was having a cranky day. I just saw it as a waste of space and not productive. Okeedokee - hope all have a nice day!!!

Hi imjay

Anyone that even knows the term A/B roll has my respect.

LOL - I meant ‘dubber’ as in dubbing mixer - a term used to describe a sound editing pro on this side of the pond. I will admit at this point to being one - no doubt my colleagues will be referring to me as the ‘duffer’ from now on

Very true. Although it is always wise to check the credentials of the person offering solutions - I have seen some very bad advice in forums.
I am very grateful when pro’s are willing to share their knowledge - My career as a sound engineer would also have been cut very short without their guidance. Also, my house would be falling apart and my car in the scrap-yard without the pro’s on other forums!

All the best.

Ant.
