I'm no audio expert but I have the same mic combo you're talking about and think it's first class. My undertsanding is that this mic combo is aimed at about the wedding videographer level or semi-pro type level.

Why the 'but'? Are you thinking this is a bad unit? Or just that it will leave you some of your budget left over?

Once you've bought the mic, a softie to go over it, a handle grip support and a boom pole you may have enough left over for a curry.

I'm sure The Guru will be along in a few moments. He'll put you straight.

If I had that much money to spend on a mic that is exactly the mic I'd buy.

I'd also want all of the accessories that Alan suggested, and some more.

This 'special offer' alone costs near on £560, and it doesn't include a pole, cables, or a camera mount:

- Sennheiser ME66/K6 with Rycote softie and pistol grip

I doubt I'd even have the dosh left over for the curry....

If you are trusting enough and look on ebay TinyURL.com - shorten that long URL into a Tiny URL then you can get change.

Absolutely excellent choice. IMHO the best combination at that price.
