K, I got the Sony Sony ECMHST1 as it was the easiest to fit the shoe without any hassle/wires.

verdict?

Excellent, sound clearer and bass not distorting the rest of sound etc
I also had anotehr option on the cam which I hadn't used b4, so between the external mic and that the vids came out excellent

is an example......remember the original mpeg2 file I have of this youtube clip is far better, youtube destroys the quality.

I also done a recording without the mic and pld the unmic and mic versions side by side and wow what a diff.

I only realise after searching for the mic and joining the forum just how professional and serious mics are lol

anyway for a diy Punk rocker I am very happy with the end story.

The youtube version doesn't sound too bad. Live Punk needs to be "distorted" anyway, and you kept a decent distance from the singer, didn't wave the camcorder around and generally did a fair job.

Now think about next time, maybe using two cameras and going for really good sound...

You'll be addicted before you know it!
