Vegas 6 crashes!!! Please help!!!

I'm having a hellova time with Vegas 6.

I've had it for over 6 months and it's been working perfectly. But lately it started doing something weird. Whenever I try to import media it gives me an error message saying "error downloading codec" and when I click OK to get rid of the message it crashes.

The media I use is avi, compressed with the wm9 codec in VDub. It's what I've always used and it's worked fine before, like I said. But now if I import just a couple clips I get this message and then the crash. I can restart Vegas and re-import that same clip but then another will cause the same thing to happen. But if I have all the media I need already imported, then I can edit for hours. It's just bringing in new media that causes the crash.

Also, I just defragged my drive and it didn't help.

Anyone have any ideas?

This is totaly new to me, try looking at jetdv and if you can't find it there post a message to Edward. As a side note, did you try uninstalling and reinstalling some file could be corrupted.

What is jetdv?

I haven't tried to unistall/reinstall yet. I did have a thought though, about the same time the problem began happening I did install an updated version of the K Lite codec pack. Could this possibly be interfering with Vegas?

Vegas is not recognising the codec or it does not support the codec. Find out what codec the format is, download it and install and all should be well

vegas is now up to 6.0d and the codec might not work with the "older" version. Try updating and see if that fixes it. Jetdv is a vegas only forum
