Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

Default no sound in mpg2 files

hello
i'm new here and hope yall can help me with this.
when i import mpeg2 video files into Vegas, there is no audio.
i thought when you import into Vegas it seperates the file out into a video track and an audio track.
am i not importing in the correct format?

i thought about just doing an audio capture then importing that as the audio track but that would take forever since i have 12 hours of footage.

help me and i'll be your best friend for at least 3-4 days.

MPEG2 files can have a variety of audio tracks and formats. If you don't have the proper codec installed for what your MPEG2 file has, you won't have any sound.

LPCM is the lowest compression, oldest and most universal audio format for MPEG2. MPEG1-L2 compressed audio is nearly as old and most editors can decompress it. AC3 is fairly recent and usually requires an extra codec installation. DTS is even newer and very few editors can do much with it.
