| | | | | Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers... |

I think there's another issue here.......'I have been in the business of writing help files, user manuals, and other technical publications for over 30 years. Anyone that worked for me and did such a terrible job would have been shown the door immediately.'...You mentioned that a few times in your posts...perhaps no-one writes Help Files as well as you....anyway.... Come and Sail with me in the Solent (might take your mind off these terrible Sony Help Files which i agree are not great!). ......and as someone on here advised me......keep fiddling with your Vegas software and one day.....just one day....you may never need Help Files. Oh! and when you find true happiness with software which is as good value and stable as Vegas 6.0d can you post here and let us all know what it is?. We may just follow you. |
It isn't Sony's fault? Then who's is it? It's their product and they are responsible for all of it.
Yes, it's true, very few write manuals and help files as well as I do. After all, I have been doing it a long time. If I couldn't do it well, I would not have lasted do long. That doesn't excuse the terrible job Sony did.
I did d/l 6.0d and it will not run without an authorization code. Which, even though it is a "trial" package, Sony has not provided even though I have specifically requested it twice.

Err... I think you will find you have to pay to unlock the trail version you have (perhaps) downloaded.

ok Lets get Things straight!!!! Forgive me if I get people mixed up here.
Vegas Movie Studio saves projects files as *.vf
Vegas saves projects files as *.veg
As Vegas is more advanced and an "upgraded" version it can open *.vf files but it is not reverse compatible. Vegas Video - This link will CLEARLY show the differences between the product.
Vegas fo $80 - You have Vegas Movie Studio. This is a budget application and for the price its fantastic. Considering the Full Version (Vegas6) is over 50 times more expensive I cant see what all the complaints are about. Even for $600 I wouldnt complain. I also laugh at the concept that its a "money making scam". When you look at the cost of AVID systems it puts things in perspective - Part of Avids high costs are going into Support. Sony does not offer such support.
I wouldn't stop using vegas becauise of this. Vegas is in my opinion far better than most NLE's out there and I'd glady put up with the service for its functionality.
When you get 6.0a/b/c/d - This also referrs to the version build. We get the numbers of buikds too. The lettered versions are mostly interface tweaks. The numbers are the infastructure and programming tweaks. It's all the same application with diffrences that are verly subtle. Under 90% of cases its nothing to do with diffrent build versions.

ROFLMAO! Yes Mark, but you also have to video my gerengeticals being set and digitize the haberdashery handbook, too!
BTW, I think $89 is about right for Movie Studio. That's in line with PowerDirector 5 and some other offerings from like Ulead. Both of these at least have far superior help files and user interfaces that are far superior to Movie Studio. I understand that this software was acquired from another company, but that doesn't excuse Sony for tuning it up a bit.
Nor does it excuse them from never answering my emails to their technical support group. Well, I did get the automated reply that says they received my mail. I don't think that counts, does it? Even the President does that and I know he doesn't read them, either. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
