Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

Yes, I have Sony Vegas Movie Studio Version 6.0 (build 43), can't see "a" or "d" anywhere...
Thats all it says in the help files.
I am very happy with it I must say. Very quick and stable.
I am just wondering what the other more expensive version (that creates VEG files) has compared with my version, and if VEG files can be converted to .VF files?
Is 6d really much better than 6a? Could it make me happier than I am now?

(Tks for the link btw)

Sony Vegas Comparison

Biggest practical difference for me is the 4 video track limiitation. But apart from that the difference doesn't seem huge.

Thanks for the 6.0d link. It's d/l now. A very large file, it must almost totally replace 6.0d.

Again, I have to say this is been a very useful forum. I have learned more from here than I have from the entire help files and manual. I even read the manual. I know that's pretty amazing but it's even more so when you consider I have been a technical writer for over 30 years and tech writers are among the worst when it comes to reading manuals. Heh Heh

I always seem to feel that, if I have to read the manual, there must be something wrong with the product.

It IS 6.0d you're downloading. yes it's a huge file - but if you go ahead and purchase there's no need to download agan if I remember rightly.

Bansaw....you have Sony Vegas "Movie Studio" ...not the same as Sony Vegas 6.0d or Sony Vegas 6.0a or anything in between but what you have is OK for what you paid.....quite remarkable actually!

FWIW, mine says:

Vegas Movie Studio
Version 6.0a (Build 85)

The 6.0d loaded and installed, but will not run because I have no serial number. The one from 6.0a won't work and they didn't supply anything by email as the initial screen said they would with downloads. As usual, Sony seems to go to a lot of trouble to make things as difficult as possible for the users.

While I am learning to do some nice things with the program, having to fight for every little thing is getting very old. I will probably look for some more user-friendly program and tell Sony to perform an unnatural act with a moving pastry. Heh Heh

YOU DO NOT HAVE VEGAS 6.0a!!! You have Vegas Movie Studio - a different product to Vegas 6.0a, 6.0b, 6.0c or 6.0d. Trying to use a serial number from Movie Studio in Vegas is like trying to use a serial number from Microsoft Works in Microsoft Word - completely irrelevant.

From what I remember the evaluation doesn't need a serial number and expires after so many days.

Hmm, UpNorth, I quoted exactly what it said on the "about" selection from the Help menu. Yes, it did say "Vegas Movie Studio" but it also said version 6.0a. Perhaps there are parallel versions of similarly named programs? That would fit in with Sony's apparent plan to confuse everything as much as they can.

Yes, I'm getting pretty disgusted with Sony. Oddly enough, I am starting to like the software better even though it is a PITA to learn.
