Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

Then how to avoid jitter on blurred action on stills?. As I said it looks horrendous with lower field first. In progressive it looks great.

Interlaced (i.e. no deinterlace) and lower field first.

Yes as Marc says dont deinterlace for dvd production, sorry for any confusion caused. Where di interlacing is helpfull ( in my expirience) is befor compression to wmv and also in clips where there is slo mo or you use track motion effects as this screws the way the fields lace. Fast motion interlaced always look odd on a monitor but fine on a telly.

I have to say it is not an exact science, I usually fiddle and go with what works best but as said for basic video with no slo mo or zooms for a dvd leave well alone.

The "still" will be one frame made up of all lines of resolution and is therefore "progressive". There should be something in your Vegas package to optimise stills. To de-interlace and make a progressive video from interlaced footage for the sake of a few clips is in my opinion overkill.

Thanks for your help!

I assume I have to set the field order to interlaced, bottom field first in the render options too?
