| |  Achieving that "24p" look...
Hey guys,
How does one go about achieving (as authentically as possible) that 24p "Hollywood" look in Vegas?

It starts at the filming stage.
Shoot everything at 1/50s exposure with as shallow a dof as you can. Use carefull ighting.
Then deinterlace the footage in vegas, try blend and interpolate, see what you prefer. Then depending on how filmy and what type of film look you want apply some effects - play with curves, sharpen, add grain, chnge sats, ect ect.
Check out magic box for groovy film processing (plug in).

Mark - Many thanks for the reply.
What about if the footage was filmed on a simple digital camcorder? Is it still possible to emulate the 24p look?
Also, I presume when you say "deinterlace the footage", you mean by going into the "Project Properties" and fiddling around in there?

Simple dig camcorders (assuming dv) give results very close to expensive ones so you can still have a go.
Yes to the properties, but better deinterlacing results can be obtained in other progs if you are really fussy.
Also remember that hollwood look means no shaky h held shots....

Hi Mark - Yes, it's DV.
Should I change any of the other settings in the Project Properties? For instance "Template", "Field order", "Pixel aspect ratio", "Frame rate", etc, etc.
