Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

Thats a common problem. I have posted it along with many others with no real answer. It has to be a setting somewhere because I had a picture breifly. Right now I'm using another program to capture then opening in vegas.

You need to install the dv codec, if it is not with the camera there is a free one on the panasonic site.

Ahh, the s5000 is not a dv camera I see. First off, stupid question maybe, make sure it does record sound.

Next, bound to be a codec probelm. Stills cameras use odd codecs often. Install any stuff that came with the camera.

That camera uses m-jpeg for video so make sure that codec is installed, probably is cos you got video. Check the documentation and see how the sound is recorded and get that codec installed too.

thanks for the reply, no im sure its not a DV camera (not totally sure what DV is lol)
Oh i definately record video and sound from my camera, ive messed around with the videos from it alot but in windows movie maker.

strange my videos work in that but not in vegas.

im sure its a codec thing too, its just trying to find one that works, its like finding a needle in a haystack

by the way, im not recording DIRECTLY from the camera into vegas, but only for post production.

DV is the digital standard that records to tape, 90% of camcorders sold are DV.

Back to the sound thing. I think mjpeg is video only, so there may be another file on the cameras sd card that contains the sound???
