Thread: poblem capturing video from my camara to my pc

yes im having a problem when i transfer my video from my cam Panasonic
to my pc the program that i use to tranfer is Windows Movie Maker
its just keep Sticking or stuck and skip some clips when it transfer and its get on my FREAKING nerve's can any one help me out and if u guys dont know what im talking about here's a vid of what i mean!!

Looks like dropped frames. Delete unnecessary large files, defrag and make sure you capture via firewire.

yes ive already done that umm? i got like about 8.3gb on my laptop thats why and yeah im capturing it via my firewire

update ur firewire card drivers

Dropped frames are a problem yes but there is a fault in windows if your pc crashs serveral time it will put your hard drives into PIO mode which is a slower transfer mode this has caused problem for me to.

When capturing do you have the sound on your laptop turned up if so turn it down so you cant hear any sound, do the same on the camera if it is playing sound, past experience has shown me that this can cause frame drops.

It may be a fault of your slow laptop hard drive.

Definately a computer speed issue. Like said before me, defrag hard drive, turn off any uneccessary programs. I don't need it, but people have reported amazing results using this capture program. http://www.free-codecs.com/download/WinDV.htm

Just another tip:
when you are caputing video from your camera its allways better to have the camera running off the mains power,low battery power could also cause unwanted effects.

Also get yourself a dry head cleaner cassete(if you dont have one)
and if you are filming a few times a week you want to be using this every month.

yo man no no luck yet yo where can i buy this casste cleaner and how much maybe? i live in the caribean?..........Aruba and almost nobody nows about these things
