Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

Default grouping together multiple tracks

I am having some problems with SONY VEGAS 6 when I am coming to an end of a project.
The problem is that sometimes I need to insert some extra footage within my project (which is allways in the MIDDLE!) which meens moving my video tracks apart allowing for an insert.I have learnt that "g"key will group together my selected clips or layers, also using shift key and manually selecting. But the problem I am facing is that my projects are becoming more complex with many different video tracks sometimes multiple overlays etc slideshows included...But how to mark and group such a complex project??Let me make myself clear I dont want to mark the whole project I have seen something about "markers" is this the right direction?
Please Help
nearly a Pro after I know this I will Be!
Mark

press "m" and it will add a marker. Unfortunatley this is the only way vegas will allow marking up projects.

Remember the timeline is infinite so keep a good space between sections

Default I need to mark and group multiple levels of video and audio

Thanks Irish Mark
Thats not really what I needed I couldnt select my clips just by making markers (am i doing something wrong?)
I would like to mark all levels in the middle of my project.and group and move them
I can mark the complete project by shift "a" but thats what i dont need.
I want to insert an extra piece of video in the middle of my timeline and I
need to make space for this.
I need to mark and group multiple levels of video and audio in the middle of my project timeline and move it.

Thanks Mark

That`ll about do it!
I didn`t know about the double function of this icon.
Thats great I can now drag an expandable box over what i need and this automatically groups together all my levels..Great!!
Cant wait to get home tonight and finally finish my project

Hopefully this solution has helped others too.

Thanks Mark

im just a newbie here too but could you not select "Time" from the Insert bar on Vegas? Enter the gap you want to enter and everything else moves!

Works for me!

Hold in the CTRL (or shift can't quite remember) and select EVERYTHING you want to move(video, sound multi tracks etc.) this will allow you to highlight what you want and group them. Or try the auto ripple button.

Default Another solution

Found this in the help file, which is good, because now I know next time I run into this problem:

Select multiple adjacent events
Use this procedure to select multiple events that are located next to each other.

Hold the Shift key and click the first and last event that you want to select. The events, including those between the selected events, are highlighted.

To select all of the events in the project, choose Select All from the Edit menu.

When you have finished selecting events, release the Shift key.

What I notice playing around with it:
- You may have to click end events in each track

Once you have them selected, you can group them.
