Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

Default Vegas 6 not opening certain .avi's

Looking for suggestions..

i have both divx and xvid codecs installed but none of the .avi's i download will open in Vegas..it will open other .avi's that my friend put on my computer when he built it recently but all the stuff i download just wont work..

i've enabled 'allow 3rd party codecs' and also tried allowing use of the windows codec..but to no avail...

i even tried deleting/re-installing..

oh btw..the audio opens but not the video

help!

I have a billion codecs, well lots, and I canoot get xvids onto the timeline. All divxs are fine. I suggest using vitrualdub to tanscode the xvids into something else editable.

It is annoying that vegas cant open xvids, it can cope with just about anything else. If you or anyone finds a fix I would love to know.
