Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

Default Question about Sony Vegas and Hardware

Hello all, I'm new to the forums. I just wanted to ask a question about Sony Vegas, I've been editing for quite a while already and I've been wanting better performance....I wanted to know if more RAM helps the program render faster and to prevent lag on previews? Or is it processor speed? I've read around and looks like RAM is winning.

One more thing, is there any possibility that somebody can help with tips to speed up my editing when it comes to cleaning or tuning sony vegas, windows or my hardware. Thanks in advance

Specs:
Duron 1.10ghz
192mb pc133 / tomorrow I'll get 256mb more
HDD 20gig

Vegas is running smoothly, but if it can get better, great. And yes I WILL buy a new computer but when the new boards come out.

Hi Marco, welcome to the boards.

I used to use 500mb ram, upgraded to 1Gb (running Vegas) and didn't really see a great amount of difference. At 192mb of RAM though, I think you will see a huge difference. You really do need to get more installed. Check eBay for prices and offers, there's alot of decent spec available there.

Yes you're right about upgrading a few things. Im going to try more RAM, better processor and 7200 rpm HDD...Im sure there will be noticable improvement in VEGAS performance.
