what do i need to look for in regards to a good graphics card for editing. i want to be able to scroll in realtime with no stuttering

any recent (e.g. at least 64 mb ram) card will do

with smaller end gfx cards you will get stuttering. Unless you have a reasonably powerful card stuttering will happen. - Even on my own system I get stuttering on really complex compositing. depending on what you are doing it may stutter it may not - the way to check is to render off the part its stuttering with. - Sometimes the PC just cant keep up when trying to play realtime so by rendering that bit off you can see if its wiorking properly.
