Video 8 editing - jog bar freezes up program

Everytime I try to edit something and use the jog bar to quickly run through the clips (I loaded 2 hour wedding video and I am trying to make a music video), my program freezes up. I have added memory. Anyone have this problem ?

What is the source video format?

my husband is doing this and he is not home right now - where would I find this info- I know more about the computer and he knows about the video!!! But together we cannot figure out this crazy mess. He used to do all video the old fashion way and did it wonderfully...now wants to do it on computer but doesn't really understand the computer enough to figure out the bugs....

No problems. Answer the following questions and it should give me a good idea:

1) What is the make and model of your camera?
2) How did you connect the camera to your PC (USB or firewire?)
