I cant seem to figure out how to pick an area out in the time line and copy and paste both the audio and video at the sametime, I can only do the seperately, but when I paste one or the other I lose my highlighted area and have to do it over again then bust my ass trying to line up the audio and video perfectly.

Can somebody help me with this?

I had a similar problem (only the opposite, as I wanted just the sound, though it wasn't really a problem).

Ok highlight the area you want to copy. Now instead of right-clicking to copy, go up to 'Edit' and copy from there. Then left-click the area you want to paste it to and use either method to paste. That will however copy every layer.
