I've got a ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series graphics card which has a HDMI output which goes into a Sony Bravia 32" TV. There is scope to adjust colour balance contrast etc. BUT the resolution is only 1366 x 768 which I find limiting. I especially find the viewing angle, where the colour goes off at more than about 15 degrees difficult. It's not noticeable watching normal TV but doing colour correction is more difficult.

I've never really understood this HDMI output on a video card. Is it provinong you with seconday Windows display (just like my 2nd monitor) or is it giving you a "Preview on External Device"?

It's a "Preview on External Device" for some reason. I think at one time some people thought it would be great to play PC computer games on there big Tvs. Doesn't the HDMI pass the sound to the device, were as DVI is image only ? I don't know because I use external speakers from the sound card.

So it accurately matches what you see when you produce a DVD. Nice (unless like in my case, the TV itself has bad colour)

I think so, but my BMD Intensity doesn't seem to.

If your TV has bad colour, you should send it through a car wash to clean it up, then cover it in white emulsion pain. You then have a nice white balanced, calibrated TV. If you find it's still not quite right (and I know what perfectionist a you are Tim) you could always tweak things with a jet wash on the insides, it usually does the trick for lower end TVs.

I have another question related to my rendering project and I just figured I'd post it here. Which is ultimately better quality--Blu-ray 1920x1080-24p or Blu-ray 1920x1080-60i?

There isn't a yes or no answer to this. I depends on what you want. I would suggest you render a test section and see how you feel about it.
