Thread: easiest way to sync sound recorded on zoom q3 and seperate video recorder

I am recording the sound for my movie on a zoom q3,using just a galaxy s2 phone for the video..hope this combo works ok..But! my qquestion is,what is the easiest way to sync the sound from my zoom q3 to the galaxy s2's movie..
I love the sound quality of the q3 and dont want to use the galaxy's sound as its pretty poor.

Just want to make sure the lips of people are in time with the audio.
Using vegas pro 11..

When filming, produce a sound to act as a marker to synch in post (rather like a clapper board). You'll be able to hear the noise on both tracks and see the similar sound wave pattern.

In you opinion what sort of noise or thing do people use to make that mark when filming?

Just clap your hands. It will show as a peak in your audio timeline.

That's right but do it in front of the camera so you also have a visual guide.

And, of course, if that thing actually had a description of what you were shooting on it, it would be even more useful. I think I've just invented something! What shall i call it? Well it's a board with information and it makes a sharp "clap" sound...

Hmmm...an "Infosound" might be a good name

I assume both instruments will actually be recording the sound, but finally you will only use the one from the Zoom.
If so, then would it not just be simpler to load all the files into the Video Editing software; and simply manually move the Zoom's audio so that the 2 waveforms line up.
