Thread: Vegas Pro 10: How to adding media to timeline with multiple video/audio tracks?

Thanks for reading this thread.

I need to sometimes add media, to an existing time line. To do this, I need to drag the existing media in the time line, I have 16 tracks, later in time, so that I have place to add in media. How do I do this?

I was doing this manually, where I'd control or shift click, but with my time line getting longer, its getting more complicated.

Ripple edits, I cant quite seem to understand with the Vegas help.

I've attached a picture file to help explain what I need to do.

So say I need to add in media, and drag everything that's on the right side of my marker later on in time, how do I do this?

Ripple Edit is probably the easiest.
Make sure you select the bottom (All tracks, markers etc) from the drop down on the Ripple edit button.
Drag one of the events right.
Turn Ripple Edit OFF.
Insert your new media.
Turn Ripple edit ON again and drag those that are to the right of your inserted media back again.
Turn Ripple Edit off.

Alternatively, use a script which in one click will allow you to select all the events to the right of the cursor, before dragging Excalibur and Ultimate S both have this facility - and thre may even be some free ones out there.

You might also want to right click on a video track header and select expand, helps to see the transitions easier
