Thread: Movie Studio Platinum 8 and Win7 64

I used Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 8 on Vista 64 for years. Upon upgrading to 7 64-bit, the program will no longer start. DVD Architect seems to work fine.

I tried disabling UAC, no luck. Any ideas?

Check to see if it will run in compatability mode.

Compatibility mode didn't work either. I tried Vista, Vista SP1, Vista SP2, and XP SP3.
It always crashes on "Initializing DirectX plug-ins...".

OK, I figured it out. It was a problem with DEP. For those who might see this whom are having the same problem:

If you have enabled DEP for all programs, then do the following.
Control Panel -> System -> Advanced system settings -> Under the Performance section, click Settings -> Data Execution Prevention -> add Movie Studio to the list of exclusions
