Default Unable to open .m2ts files in Sony Vegas Pro 10

Actually I can open them, but only the smaller ones. When I select a bigger file (7gb) in SV explorer, the SV freezes immediately and goes in the "not responding" mode. Nothing happens afterwards - SV never turns back to normal operation. Error code is Apphang81.

I don't think this happens because my machine is slow (I'm on W7-32bit with AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 820 2,8Ghz CPU and 4GB RAM), since I've opened >30gb files in Vegas before (they were in MP4 format - h.264 files converted to MP4 with YAMB) and I could edit and render them without any problems.

The .m2ts files I get from muxing h.264 files with TSmuxer.

Also I can open these big .m2ts files in Pinnacle, but I don't want to use Pinnacle, because I like Vegas much better.

Any idea how this problem can be fixed? Any advice is appreciated.

What version of Vegas are you running?

Have set your project to match your media?

Transcoding, the way you've done it, has openned up a can of worms. This is way outside my comfort zone and you will need to hear from others on your approach. To me, it sounds disastrous.

I use Vegas Pro 10 and I set my project to match the media.

What is the best way to transcode h.264 to import into Vegas in your opinion? I just picked up the first method I found on the web.

You'd better convert your M2ts files to WMV (VC-1) (*.wmv) or MOV (AVC)(*.mov) the perfectly editable format for Sony Vegas. Here Brorsoft MTS/M2TS Converter can help you do it with the particular output format for Sony Veags.
