Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

Default Party games with a camcorder and videoediting software

Hi-
I am assisting in creating a game that utilizes a boardgame, camcorder and videoediting software and mirrors the movie making experience. From creating the script to screening. Everyone picks a card and is given a role (editor, director, actor, script writer, etc). At the end of the game, you view the movie together. Its totally fun and wacky - (even better with cocktails).

Do you think that video editing and camcorder use is mainstream enough to introduce a game like this??

Love to hear people's thoughts...

TBH I think the actual editing aspect of filmmaking isn't one that's going to grab people that much. A movie making based game sounds like a nice idea though.

I think it's a fairly neat idea, but Mike it right...the editing aspect might not attract many people.

Not to detract you, though. I'd LOVE to see your finished product.

Default Movie Making Game

It's actually in the demo state, so we are really at the point where we are going to sell it (that is, if anyone wants it ) - Thanks for your comments though, and encouragement!

The casual person is not going to want or like the editing process. The only way it really works is you create a basic and fun editing program. Most people don't have the computer or the Harddrive space to edit.

It really needs to be `Hollywood` themed to attract any buyers I would guess. A big picture of the HOLLYWOOD sign on the hill on the box wouldcatch my eye. If you kind of gave the impression that the big studios were who the contestants were working for, it would have more appeal. Maybe use the logos of the studios changed enough to avoid the legal eagles.
Avoid the technicals too much too, maybe focus (no pun intended) on the whole big budget movie making experience?
(Oh and have a card for the Camera Crane Operator too  )

Default Camcorder and Video Editing Game - Camera Crane Operator

I like that, although what would we use as a prop? A couple of chairs balanced on top of one another? Hang from a chandelier?

We are also trying to make it look very cartoonie Hollywood - more kitsch than glamorous. Once the site is up, I will send the link - super cool, really!
