Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

Default Questions about deleting footage from tracks and BAK files

When I delete audio and video footage from the track, Vegas still considers those files to be part of the project, so I can't delete the raw footage that I use even after I delete them from the track. What do I have to do to totally get rid of the footage in the project so I can delete the footage?

Also, what are the BAK files that Vegas automatically creates? What purpose do they serve? They really clutter my desktop, which is where I keep all my project files

Thanks. This is on Sony Vegas Pro 9 BTW.

After you have deleted from the time line they are still in the media bin so delete them from the bin as well. OR you can shut down Vegas and you should be able to delete the footage.

A .bak file is an automatic back up of various files relating to your project these can be useful if you computer crashes during a project.

You go down to the "project media" tab and delete it from there.
