Cool Shrimpy: Is it Kick A%$ ? Pls post your spec in the hardware section TY.
MB your right! you don't have a defrag problem with SSD's, which is cool.
But I also think that SSD's won't rule the roost, for general storage traditional HD's are perfect.
I have loads of HD's that I have collected over the years. Us them for Backups and storage.
I have 10 that I am giving to a mate of mine who's a IT lecture; so his students can dismantle and destroy LOLOL....Well I did it when I studied IT...was a blast though..... What I couldn't get over was with the floppy, they shrunk in size but double in capacity, I found that wierd LOL![]()

My first computer didn't even have a hard drive. Amstrad PCW9512. The OS was on a floppy disk ! it had a whopping 512Kb RAM. You had to keep swapping floppy disks if you wanted to save a document.
We've come a long way.![]()
Like your writeup willyb!
especially the SSD practical application.
learned something there. thanks for sharing.
You were so behind the times. Back in 1978, the first I worked on had 3 (or was it 5?) hard disk drives and about 20 actual hard disks - each containing eight platters and holding a massive total of 60MB (yes megabytes)
We had a pair of ICL 2904 minicomputers. The drives were EDS60s and the disks cost (then) around £3,000 each. And yes I was around when someone did drop one!
There's a photo of them (the same model, anyway) here The First Computer I Worked On - uGoto.com - the disk drives are the large washing machine sized things in the left foreground.
